Twitter Flattening Growth

On March 21, 2006 twitter came into being and last year we saw great number of people joining it worldwide. Their goal was micro blogging meanin only 140 words at a time. This seemed far much easier than the rest of the blogs because now people could write only a sentence to blog as compared to the pages & paragraphs written before for their blogs.

Twitter became the hottest website in just couple of years. People thought that blogs would be history as microblogging with twitter gained popularity.

But now after one year blogs are doing just as fine as they were supposed to do
but twitter seems to be struggling with flattening growth. And it’s not in US only twitter seems be facing the same problem world wide.

com Score estimated that Twitter had 58.3 million unique visitors worldwide in October, down from 58.4 million in September. Meanwhile, Wordpress.com gained 10 million unique visitors and Blogger with a huge jump of 18.2 million visitors in October after withholding in March 2009.
So now do we think that twitter mania is over? Surely one month is not just enough for forecasting anything about twitter. Blogging has been helped by twitter in certain ways for example twitterfeed which is becoming the preferred feed reader for many people. Twitter is also bringing out improvements such as Lists and the new Retweet Button. Once geo-location features kick in, Twitter’s growth could come back with a vengeance.
